Acupuncture is a tool that veterinarians can use to treat multiple conditions in pets. It it most commonly used at our practice for arthritis and chronic pain, particularly in senior pets.

Acupuncture works by inserting needles close to nerves, which stimulates blood flow to the area and encourages activation of neurotransmitters. The interaction of the neurotransmitters and other cell signaling molecules decreases the pain signals sent through the body.

Treatments are typically done weekly for a period of 2 months, then as needed. Acupuncture is commonly used in conjunction with prescription medications to make your pet as comfortable as possible. Please let us know if you are interested in an acupuncture consult for your pet.
